Responsibilities
Dr Ana Elisa Cascão is currently a Programme Manager at SIWI’s Capacity Building services. She is co-director, facilitator and lecturer of international training programmes on Transboundary Water Management for the Lake Victoria, Middle East and Tigris-Euphrates.
Competence
Dr Ana Cascão is a political scientist with expertise on Hydropolitics in the Middle East and Northeastern African regions. For the past six years she has been involved in several academic and consultancy projects in the MENA and Nile regions and has also published on these topics in both academic and general publications.
Background
Her main research topic is the hydropolitics in the Nile River Basin. Her PhD (2009) focused on the ‘Political economy of water resources management and allocation in the Eastern Nile Basin’. She is currently writing her book "Hydropolitics in the Nile River Basin: Power and Water in the Contemporary Age", to be published by I.B.Tauris in 2012.
